But the lad knew not anything; only Jonathan and David knew the matter.

And as soon as the lad was gone, David arose from beside the stone and came to Jonathan and fell on his face to the ground and bowed himself three times; and they kissed each other, and wept over each other; but David wept more.

Then the king said to the guards who stood about him. Turn, and slay the priests of God; because their hand also is with David and because they knew that he fled, and did not reveal it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hands and harm the priests of God.

But one of the sons of Ahimeleck, the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped and fled after David.

And David abode in the wilderness of Misroth, and remained in a mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God did not deliver him into his hand.

So they arose and went to Ziph before Saul; but David and his men were in the wilderness of Maon, in the plain by the side of the desert.

But there came a messenger to Saul, saying, Make haste and come; for the Philistines have invaded the land.

But afterward David regretted that he had cut off the skirt of Sauls robe.

May the LORD judge between me and you, and the LORD avenge me of you; but my hand shall not be against you.

As it is said in the proverb of the ancients, Out of the wicked proceeds wickedness: but my hand shall not be against you.

So David swore to Saul. And Saul went to his home; but David and the men who were with him went up to Mizpeh.

Now the name of the man was Nabal; and the name of his wife was Abigail; and she was a beautiful woman, and of a beautiful countenance; but the man Nabal was harsh and evil in his doings, and like a dog.

But one of the young men told Abigail, Nabals wife, saying, Behold, David sent messengers out of the wilderness to bless our master; and he railed at them.

But the men were very good to us and did not hurt us, and neither have they caused us to miss anything all the time that we went with them;

And she said to the servants, Go on before me; behold, I come after you. But she did not tell her husband Nabal.
