But if our unrighteousness serves to confirm God's righteousness, what can we say? God is not unrighteous when he vents his wrath on us, is he? (I am talking in human terms.)Romans 6:19; Galatians 3:15;">[xr]

By his grace they are justified freely through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,Matthew 20:28; Romans 4:16; Ephesians 1:7; 2:8; Colossians 1:14; 1 Timothy 2:6; Titus 3:5,7; Hebrews 9:12; 1 Peter 1:18-19;">[xr]

whom God offered as a place where atonement by Christ'shis">[fn] blood could occur through faith. He did thisHe did this">[fn] to demonstrate his righteousness, because he had waited patiently to deal with sins committed in the past.Leviticus 16:15; Acts 13:38-39; 17:30; Colossians 1:20; 1 Timothy 1:15; Hebrews 9:15; 1 John 2:2; 4:10;">[xr]

However, to someone who does not work, but simply believes in the one who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness.Joshua 24:2;">[xr]

For the promise that he would inherit the world did not come to Abraham or to his descendants through the law, but through the righteousness produced by faith.Genesis 17:4; Galatians 3:29;">[xr]

Therefore, the promiseit">[fn] is based on faith, so that it may be a matter of grace and may be guaranteed for all his descendants - not only for those who were given the law,those of the law">[fn] but also for those who share Abraham's faith, who is the father of us all.Isaiah 51:2; Romans 3:24; 9:8; Galatians 3:22;">[xr]

He did not weaken in faith when he thought about his own body (which was alreadyalready">[fn] as good as dead now that he was about a hundred years old) or about Sarah's inability to have children,Genesis 17:17; 18:11; Hebrews 11:11-12;">[xr]

But God demonstrates his love for us by the fact that Christ died for us while we were still sinners.John 15:13; 1 Peter 3:18; 1 John 3:16; 4:9-10;">[xr]

Now that we have been justified by his blood, how much more will we be saved from wrath through him!Romans 1:18; 3:25; Ephesians 2:13; 1 Thessalonians 1:10; Hebrews 9:14; 1 John 1:7;">[xr]
