and he said, O Yahweh, the God of our fathers, are not you God in heaven? and are not you ruler over all the kingdoms of the nations? and in your hand is power and might, so that none is able to withstand you.

Did you not, O our God, drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel, and give it to the seed of Abraham your friend forever?

O our God, will you not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that comes against us; neither do we know what to do: but our eyes are on you.

And the Levites, of the sons of the Kohathites and of the sons of the Korahites, stood up to praise Yahweh, the God of Israel, with an exceeding loud voice.

And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem: believe in Yahweh your God, so you shall be established; believe his prophets, so you shall prosper.

And the fear of God was on all the kingdoms of the countries, when they heard that Yahweh fought against the enemies of Israel.

So the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet; for his God gave him rest round about.

Nevertheless the high places were not taken away; neither as yet had the people set their hearts to the God of their fathers.

So Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah to this day: then Libnah revolted at the same time from under his hand, because he had forsaken Yahweh, the God of his fathers.

And there came a writing to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus says Yahweh, the God of David your father, Because you haven't walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat your father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,

Now the destruction of Ahaziah was of God, in that he went to Joram: for when he came, he went out with Jehoram against Jehu the son of Nimshi, whom Yahweh had anointed to cut off the house of Ahab.

And he was hid with them in the house of God six years: and Athaliah reigned over the land.

And all the assembly made a covenant with the king in the house of God. And he said to them, Look, the king's son shall reign, as Yahweh has spoken concerning the sons of David.

And Jehoiada the priest delivered to the captains of hundreds the spears, and bucklers, and shields, that had been king David's, which were in the house of God.

And he gathered together the priests and the Levites, and said to them, Go out to the cities of Judah, and gather of all Israel money to repair the house of your God from year to year; and see that you hurry the matter. Nevertheless the Levites did not hurry it.

For the sons of Athaliah, that wicked woman, had broken up the house of God; and also they bestowed all the dedicated things of the house of Yahweh on the Baalim.

And they made a proclamation through Judah and Jerusalem, to bring in for Yahweh the tax that Moses the slave of God laid on Israel in the wilderness.

So the workmen wrought, and the work of repairing went forward in their hands, and they set up the house of God in its state, and strengthened it.

And they buried him in the city of David among the kings, because he had done good in Israel, and toward God and his house.

And they forsook the house of Yahweh, the God of their fathers, and served the Asherim and the idols: and wrath came on Judah and Jerusalem for this their guiltiness.
