Really, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fancy clothes? See, those who wear fancy clothes live in kings' houses.

That's why I speak to them in parables, because 'they look but don't see, and they listen but don't hear or understand.'

For this people's heart has become dull,Hebrews 5:11;">[xr] and their ears are hard of hearing.they hear with ears of heaviness">[fn] They have shut their eyes so that they might not see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart and turn, and I would heal them.'Isaiah 6:9-10">[fn]

For truly I tell you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see the things you see but did not see them, and to hear the things you hear but did not hear them."Hebrews 11:13; 1 Peter 1:10-11;">[xr]

As a result, the crowd was amazed to see those who were unable to talk speaking, the crippled healed, the lame walking, and the blind seeing. So they praised the God of Israel.
