2 Chronicles 13:2 — Michaiah. Called also Maachah in 2 Chronicles 11:20 ; 1 Kings 15:2 . See note on 1 Chronicles 25:11 . Michaiah = Who is like Jehovah? This name used of her as the queen-mother; but she is called Maachah = oppression, when speaking of her idolatry (2 Chronicles 15:16 ). Uriel of Gibeah. Josephus ( Antiquities VIII. 10, 1) says he was the husband of Tamar the daughter of Absalom, and the mother of Michaiah. See above, 2 Chronicles 11:20 . 1 Kings 15:2 .

Ezra 10:44 — strange = foreign. Thus ends the first part of this book "Ezra-Nehemiah"; not abruptly; as it is followed by the second part, which is concerned mainly with the rebuilding of the city and the walls, instead of with the Temple. The incidents recorded in Nehemiah 1:1 Nehemiah 7:4 had taken place before the first return under Zerubbabel, See the Structures and notes on pp 617, 618, and App-58 . Compare also Nehemiah 7:4 with Haggai 1:1-4 .

Proverbs 1:1 — of. Genitive of Relation ( App-17 ), being the title or heading of the whole book, some being "for" him; others "by" him. If not, why the words of Proverbs 10:1 ? Chapters Proverbs 10:19 , Proverbs 10:19 are not to "my son", but are in the third person, "he" and "him". See App-74 , and note also other sub-headings, Proverbs 25:1 ; Proverbs 30:1 ; Proverbs 31:1 . All these are covered by the Genitive of Relation ( App-17 ).

It was contrary to the law of Deuteronomy 24:1-4 . It will be the new Israel of Matthew 21:43 of a yet future day. God never mends what man has marred. This is the lesson of the potter's house.
