Dumah = silence, prophetic of its end.

voice. See the Structure (p. 980). This is the voice from the Temple concerning the "scattering", corresponding with Isaiah 40:3 , Isaiah 40:6 , which is the voice from the wilderness concerning the "gathering".
Whom shall I send? This was not Isaiah's original commission to prophesy, but his special commission for this great dispensational prophecy. Chs. 1-5 form a general
Lamentations 3:46 (= P) and Ayin () are transposed; not from any "mistake" or "forgetfulness", but to call our attention to the truth which might otherwise have been overlooked: viz. the sorrow, on account of the destructive work of the enemies (verses: Lamentations 3:46-48 ), which would have been averted by true sorrow for the sins which caused it (verses: Lamentations 3:49-51 ).

Daniel 11:36

Josephus (Antiquities xviii 5 § 1,2) tells us that Herod Antipas (Luke 3:1 ) was engagedin a war with Aretas his father-in-law, a petty king in Arabia Petrea, at this very time, and his soldiers were passing from Galilee through the very country where John was proclaiming.
Do violence = terrify with a view to extortion.
John 11:1
was sick . Pointing to great weakness and exhaustion, the result of active disease, rather than the disease itself. The verb is used thirty-six times, gene- rally translated in the Gospels "sick", in Paul's Epistles "weak", but in John 5:3 , John 5:7 "impotent".
Lazarus . Same as Eleazar = God helpeth. First occurance. Exodus 6:23 .
of = from. Greek. apo. App-104 .
the town = of (Greek. ek, App-104 .) the town, or unwalled village. See Luke 10:38 , which refers to Bethany.
