Introduction
1:2 offering (a-18) offering (a-25) Corban , 'present,' noun derived from the verb translated 'present.'
Verse 1
2:1 oblation (f-8) Minchah , 'gift,' 'food-offering.' 'Oblation' will always represent this word. flour; (g-17) The finest part of wheat flour. see Exodus 29:2 .
Verse 2
2:2 burn (h-36) See Note i, ch. 1.9.
Verse 4
2:4 cakes (i-18) A kind of thin cake with holes in it. mingled (k-22)
Verse 5
2:5 mingled (k-18) It cannot, I think, be doubted that this is more than, and intended to be more than 'anointed.' 'Mixed,' 'mingled,' is the sense of the word. In Psalms 92:10 it is not merely 'anointed' as consecration, but his whole system is invigorated and strengthened by it. It formed his strength; hence it is 'fresh oil' there.
Verse 9
2:9 take (l-5) Or 'heave.' so chs. 4.10,19; 6.10,15.
Verse 11
2:11 burn (a-22) See Note i, ch. 1.9.
Verse 12
2:12 offering (b-4) Corban , 'gift,' or 'present,' see ch. 1.2. 'First-fruits,' here in ver. 12, is 'beginning,' Genesis 1:1 . The word for 'firstfruits' in ver. 14 is more strictly in general for 'first-born;' first-ripe in Jeremiah 24:2 ; Hosea 9:10 . offered (c-19) Lit. 'shall not ascend.' see ch. 14.20; Genesis 8:20 ; Genesis 22:13 , c. Exodus 25:37 .
Verse 13
2:13 offer (d-36) Or 'present.
Verse 14
2:14 ears. (e-33) Or 'peeled grain of fresh ears;' or 'the fruits of the tilled field.'
