and his testimonies

וְעֵדְוֹתָ֔יו

according to what is written

to the end that

you may prosper

תַּשְׂכִּ֗יל

to the end that

may continue

That the LORD

concerning me

your children

to their way

and with all

יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

Moreover also

of the hosts

and to Amasa

wə·la·‘ă·mā·śā

וְלַעֲמָשָׂ֤א

and whom he slew

way·ya·har·ḡêm,

וַיַּ֣הַרְגֵ֔ם

ba·ḥă·ḡō·rā·ṯōw

בַּחֲגֹֽרָתוֹ֙

about his loins

bə·mā·ṯə·nāw,

בְּמָתְנָ֔יו

ū·ḇə·na·‘ă·lōw

וּֽבְנַעֲל֖וֹ

בְּרַגְלָֽיו׃

according to your wisdom

kə·ḥā·ḵə·mā·ṯe·ḵā;

כְּחָכְמָתֶ֑ךָ

and to the sons

of Barzillai

hag·gil·‘ā·ḏî

הַגִּלְעָדִי֙

covenant loyalty

and let them be

of those who eat

at your table

šul·ḥā·ne·ḵā;

שֻׁלְחָנֶ֑ךָ

’aḇ·šā·lō·wm

אַבְשָׁל֥וֹם

your brother

[you hast] you Shimei

mib·ba·ḥu·rîm

מִבַּחֻרִים֒

קִֽלְלַ֙נִי֙

ma·ḥă·nā·yim;

hay·yar·dên,

הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן

wā·’eš·šā·ḇa‘

וָאֶשָּׁ֨בַֽע

put you to death

with the sword

therefore hold him not guiltless

tə·naq·qê·hū,

תְּנַקֵּ֔הוּ

wə·yā·ḏa‘·tā

וְיָֽדַעְתָּ֙

you ought to do

and bring you down

wə·hō·w·raḏ·tā

וְהוֹרַדְתָּ֧

but his hoar head

to the engrave

וַיִּשְׁכַּ֥ב

and was buried

way·yiq·qā·ḇêr

וַיִּקָּבֵ֖ר

wə·hay·yā·mîm,

וְהַיָּמִ֗ים

Israel [were]

ham·mə·lū·ḵāh,

הַמְּלוּכָ֔ה

hag·gā·ḏō·wl

and for Abiathar

ū·lə·’eḇ·yā·ṯār

וּלְאֶבְיָתָ֣ר

ū·lə·yō·w·’āḇ

way·yiš·šā·ḇa‘

וַיִּשָּׁבַע֙

against his own life

ḇə·nap̄·šōw,

have not spoken

’ă·ḏō·nî·yā·hū,

אֲדֹ֣נִיָּ֔הוּ

has established

hĕ·ḵî·na·nî,

[way·yō·wō·šî·ḇî·nî

[וַיֹּושִׁיבִינִי

(way·yō·wō·šî·ḇa·nî

(וַיֹּֽושִׁיבַ֙נִי֙

shall be put to death

’ă·ḏō·nî·yā·hū.

אֲדֹנִיָּֽהוּ׃

וַיִּשְׁלַח֙

yə·hō·w·yā·ḏā‘;

way·yip̄·ga‘-

וַיִּפְגַּע־

and on him who he died

and to Abiathar

ū·lə·’eḇ·yā·ṯār

וּלְאֶבְיָתָ֨ר

the king you

do put you to death

’ă·mî·ṯe·ḵā,

you did bear

you have been afflicted

hiṯ·‘an·nî·ṯā,

הִתְעַנִּ֔יתָ

in everything

was afflicted

so thrust out

in order to fulfill

wə·haš·šə·mu·‘āh

וְהַשְּׁמֻעָה֙

’ă·ḏō·nî·yāh,

’aḇ·šā·lō·wm

אַבְשָׁל֖וֹם

do though he turned

and caught hold

way·ya·ḥă·zêq

וַֽיַּחֲזֵ֖ק

of the horns

bə·qar·nō·wṯ

בְּקַרְנ֥וֹת

of the altar

ham·miz·bê·aḥ.

הַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ׃

And it was told

ham·miz·bê·aḥ;

הַמִּזְבֵּ֑חַ

וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח

yə·hō·w·yā·ḏā‘

וַיֹּ֥אמֶר ׀

and bury him

ū·qə·ḇar·tōw;

וּקְבַרְתּ֑וֹ

who you may take away

wa·hă·sî·rō·ṯā

וַהֲסִירֹ֣תָ ׀

the innocent

of my father

And shall return

his own head

more righteous

and slew them

way·ya·har·ḡêm

וַיַּהַרְגֵ֣ם

with the sword

and my father

[thereof to wit] Abner

and shall therefore return

and on the head

of his offspring

but on David

and on his offspring

ū·lə·zar·‘ōw

וּ֠לְזַרְעוֹ

and on his house

and on his throne

ū·lə·ḵis·’ōw

וּלְכִסְא֜וֹ

shall there be

בְּנָיָ֙הוּ֙

yə·hō·w·yā·ḏā‘,

יְה֣וֹיָדָ֔ע

way·yip̄·ga‘-

וַיִּפְגַּע־

way·mi·ṯê·hū;

וַיְמִתֵ֑הוּ

and he was buried

way·yiq·qā·ḇêr

וַיִּקָּבֵ֥ר

at his own house

in the wilderness

bam·miḏ·bār.

בַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃

yə·hō·w·yā·ḏā‘

did the king

וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח

for yourself a house

in Jerusalem

bî·rū·šā·lim,

בִּיר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם

wə·yā·šaḇ·tā

וְיָשַׁבְתָּ֖

For it shall be

For on the day

and pass over

wə·‘ā·ḇar·tā

וְעָֽבַרְתָּ֙

you shall know

you shall surely

on your own head

ḇə·rō·še·ḵā.

בְרֹאשֶֽׁךָ׃

your servant

in Jerusalem

bî·rū·šā·lim

בִּירוּשָׁלִַ֖ם

And it came to pass

that ran away

way·yiḇ·rə·ḥū

וַיִּבְרְח֤וּ

of the servants

And they told

way·yag·gî·ḏū

וַיַּגִּ֤ידוּ

your servants [are]

way·ya·ḥă·ḇōš

וַֽיַּחֲבֹשׁ֙

his servants

his servants

And it was told

from Jerusalem

mî·rū·šā·lim

מִירוּשָׁלִַ֛ם

and was come again

וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח

do make you to swear

hiš·ba‘·tî·ḵā

הִשְׁבַּעְתִּ֣יךָ

and protested

and walk abroad

wə·hā·laḵ·tā

וְהָֽלַכְתָּ֙

You will know

for a certain

you shall surely

And you said

[is] good me

[that] I have heard

šā·mā·‘ə·tî.

שָׁמָֽעְתִּי׃

I have charged

moreover unto

in your heart

lə·ḇā·ḇə·ḵā,

and shall return

therefore the LORD

your wickedness

on your own head

bə·rō·še·ḵā.

בְּרֹאשֶֽׁךָ׃

wə·ham·me·leḵ

וְהַמֶּ֥לֶךְ

[shall be] blessed

and the throne

so commanded

בְּנָיָ֙הוּ֙

yə·hō·w·yā·ḏā‘,

יְה֣וֹיָדָ֔ע

and who went out

way·yip̄·ga‘-

וַיִּפְגַּע־

that he died

and the kingdom

wə·ham·mam·lā·ḵāh

וְהַמַּמְלָכָ֥ה

was established

in the hands
