לִמְשָׁחֳךָ֣

[to be] you king

therefore Listen you

to the voice

of the words

ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ,

פָּקַ֕דְתִּי

[that] Amalek

lə·yiś·rā·’êl;

לְיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

[wait] for him in the way

when he came up

ba·‘ă·lō·ṯōw

mim·miṣ·rā·yim.

מִמִּצְרָֽיִם׃

wə·hik·kî·ṯāh

וְהִכִּֽיתָ֜ה

and utterly destroy

wə·ha·ḥă·ram·tem

וְהַֽחֲרַמְתֶּם֙

do and spare

wə·hê·mat·tāh

וַיְשַׁמַּ֤ע

and numbered them

way·yip̄·qə·ḏêm

וַֽיִּפְקְדֵם֙

baṭ·ṭə·lā·’îm,

בַּטְּלָאִ֔ים

wa·‘ă·śe·reṯ

and adversary

in the valley

get you down

the from among

‘ă·mā·lê·qî,

I destroy you

covenant loyalty

the children

when they came up

ba·‘ă·lō·w·ṯām

בַּעֲלוֹתָ֖ם

out of Egypt

mim·miṣ·rā·yim;

מִמִּצְרָ֑יִם

and departed

So the Kenites

the Amalekites

the Amalekites

from Havilah

mê·ḥă·wî·lāh

מֵֽחֲוִילָה֙

וַיִּתְפֹּ֛שׂ

of the Amalekites

utterly destroyed

with the edge

of the sword

and the people

of the sheep

and of the oxen

wə·hab·bā·qār

and of the fatted calves

wə·ham·miš·nîm

וְהַמִּשְׁנִ֤ים

[that was] good

utterly destroy

ha·ḥă·rî·mām;

ham·mə·lā·ḵāh

הַמְּלָאכָ֛ה

that they destroyed utterly

he·ḥĕ·rî·mū.

הֶחֱרִֽימוּ׃

It repents me

I have set up

הִמְלַ֤כְתִּי

[to be] king

he is turned back

from following

mê·’a·ḥă·ray,

my commands me

And it grieved

לִשְׁמוּאֵ֔ל

and he cried

hal·lā·yə·lāh.

הַלָּֽיְלָה׃

when rose early

וַיַּשְׁכֵּ֧ם

in the morning

and it was told

לִשְׁמוּאֵ֜ל

hak·kar·me·lāh

הַכַּרְמֶ֙לָה֙

he set him up

and is gone about

and passed on

way·ya·‘ă·ḇōr,

וַֽיַּעֲבֹ֔ר

and gone down

hag·gil·gāl.

הַגִּלְגָּֽל׃

[are] of the LORD

I have performed

[meaneth] bleating

of the sheep

bə·’ā·zə·nāy;

and the lowing

from the Amalekites

mê·‘ă·mā·lê·qî

מֵעֲמָלֵקִ֣י

They have brought

for the people

of the sheep

and of the oxen

wə·hab·bā·qār,

to the end that

’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā;

hay·yō·w·ṯêr

we have utterly destroyed

he·ḥĕ·ram·nū.

הֶחֱרַֽמְנוּ׃

and I will tell

wə·’ag·gî·ḏāh

וְאַגִּ֣ידָה

hal·lā·yə·lāh;

[way·yō·mə·rū

[וַיֹּאמְרוּ

[wast] little

in your own eyes

bə·‘ê·ne·ḵā,

בְּעֵינֶ֔יךָ

[made] the head

of the tribes

and anointed

way·yim·šā·ḥă·ḵā

וַיִּמְשָׁחֲךָ֧

the LORD you

יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

way·yiš·lā·ḥă·ḵā

וַיִּשְׁלָחֲךָ֥

the LORD you

on a journey

and utterly destroy

wə·ha·ḥă·ram·tāh

וְהַחֲרַמְתָּ֞ה

ha·ḥaṭ·ṭā·’îm

הַֽחַטָּאִים֙

the Amalekites

wə·nil·ḥam·tā

וְנִלְחַמְתָּ֣

against them until

they are consumed

kal·lō·w·ṯām

in the sight

I have obeyed

שָׁמַ֙עְתִּי֙

and have gone

on the mission

and have brought

the Amalekites

have utterly destroyed

he·ḥĕ·ram·tî.

הֶחֱרַֽמְתִּי׃

of the spoil

mê·haš·šā·lāl

מֵהַשָּׁלָ֛ל

of the things that should have been utterly destroyed

to sacrifice

bag·gil·gāl.

בַּגִּלְגָּֽל׃

[as great] delight

has the LORD

and sacrifices

ū·zə·ḇā·ḥîm,

As in obeying

than sacrifice

לְהַקְשִׁ֖יב

than the fat

[is as] the sin

of witchcraft

For rebellion

and [is as] iniquity

and idolatry

ū·ṯə·rā·p̄îm

stubbornness

you have rejected

and he has also rejected

way·yim·’ā·sə·ḵā

וַיִּמְאָסְךָ֖

[being] you from [being] king

I have sinned

I have transgressed

də·ḇā·re·ḵā;

to their voice

bə·qō·w·lām.

and turn again

that I may worship

wə·’eš·ta·ḥă·weh

וְאֶֽשְׁתַּחֲוֶ֖ה

you have rejected

מָאַ֙סְתָּה֙

and has rejected

way·yim·’ā·sə·ḵā

וַיִּמְאָסְךָ֣

you from being

יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

And turned about

and he laid hold

way·ya·ḥă·zêq

on the skirt

way·yiq·qā·ra‘.

וַיִּקָּרַֽע׃

has tore him

and has given

it to a neighbor

the Strength

should repent

lə·hin·nā·ḥêm.

לְהִנָּחֵֽם׃

Then he said

I have sinned me

kab·bə·ḏê·nî

כַּבְּדֵ֥נִי

of my people

and turn again

that I may worship

wə·hiš·ta·ḥă·wê·ṯî

וְהִֽשְׁתַּחֲוֵ֖יתִי

’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā.

so turned again

and worshiped

way·yiš·ta·ḥū

וַיִּשְׁתַּ֥חוּ

Bring you here

of the Amalekites

ma·‘ă·ḏan·nōṯ;

the bitterness

has made women

As your sword

be childless

shall your mother

And in pieces

way·šas·sêp̄

וַיְשַׁסֵּ֨ף

bag·gil·gāl.

בַּגִּלְגָּֽל׃

hā·rā·mā·ṯāh;

of his death

nevertheless

יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
