וַיִּשְׁכַּ֨ב

and they buried

way·yiq·bə·rū

וַיִּקְבְּר֤וּ

וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ

in his place

[that that was] good

wə·hay·yā·šār,

וְהַיָּשָׁ֔ר

in the sight

For he took away

miz·bə·ḥō·wṯ

מִזְבְּח֥וֹת

of the strange

and [gods] and the high places

wə·hab·bā·mō·wṯ;

וְהַבָּמ֑וֹת

and broke down

וַיְשַׁבֵּר֙

ham·maṣ·ṣê·ḇō·wṯ,

הַמַּצֵּב֔וֹת

and cut down

hā·’ă·šê·rîm.

הָאֲשֵׁרִֽים׃

And commanded

of their fathers

’ă·ḇō·w·ṯê·hem;

אֲבוֹתֵיהֶ֑ם

wə·la·‘ă·śō·wṯ

וְלַעֲשׂ֖וֹת

hat·tō·w·rāh

and the command

wə·ham·miṣ·wāh.

וְהַמִּצְוָֽה׃

Also he took away

the high places

hab·bā·mō·wṯ

ha·ḥam·mā·nîm;

הַֽחַמָּנִ֑ים

and was quiet

וַתִּשְׁקֹ֥ט

ham·mam·lā·ḵāh

הַמַּמְלָכָ֖ה

And he build

and he had no

בַּשָּׁנִ֣ים

had given him rest

Therefore he said

Let us build

and make about

[them] walls

ū·miḡ·dā·lîm

וּמִגְדָּלִים֮

də·lā·ṯa·yim

וּבְרִיחִים֒

[while] The land

[is] before us

lə·p̄ā·nê·nū,

we have sought

דָרַ֙שְׁנוּ֙

’ĕ·lō·hê·nū,

we have sought

דָּרַ֕שְׁנוּ

[him] and he has given us rest

so they build

and prospered

way·yaṣ·lî·ḥū.

וַיַּצְלִֽיחוּ׃

[of men] that bore

that from Benjamin

ū·mib·bin·yā·min,

וּמִבִּנְיָמִ֗ן

ū·šə·mō·w·nîm

וּשְׁמוֹנִ֖ים

these [were]

And there came out

against them

of a thousand

and chariots

ū·mar·kā·ḇō·wṯ

וּמַרְכָּב֖וֹת

Then went out

and in array him

way·ya·‘ar·ḵū

וַיַּֽעַרְכוּ֙

and they set the battle

in the valley

of Zephathah

lə·mā·rê·šāh.

לְמָרֵשָֽׁה׃

[it is] You to help

or with those who have no

אֱלֹהֵ֙ינוּ֙

נִשְׁעַ֔נּוּ

and in your name

וּבְשִׁמְךָ֣

O LORD [are]

אֱלֹהֵ֙ינוּ֙

do let prevail

way·yig·gōp̄

the Ethiopians

הַכּוּשִׁ֔ים

way·yā·nu·sū

the Ethiopians

הַכּוּשִֽׁים׃

[were] and him pursued

way·yir·də·p̄êm

וַיִּרְדְּפֵ֨ם

that the people

and were overthrown

the Ethiopians

מִכּוּשִׁים֙

that they could not

they were destroyed

נִשְׁבְּר֥וּ

ma·ḥă·nê·hū;

and they carried away

וַיִּשְׂא֥וּ

And they struck

and they spoiled

way·yā·ḇōz·zū

וַיָּבֹ֙זּוּ֙

exceedingly much

of livestock

and carried away

וַיִּשְׁבּ֨וּ

in abundance

ū·ḡə·mal·lîm,

וּגְמַלִּ֔ים

and returned

way·yā·šu·ḇū

וַיָּשֻׁ֖בוּ

to Jerusalem

yə·rū·šā·lim.

יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃
