’ă·ḥaz·yā·hū

אֲחַזְיָ֖הוּ

began to reign

yə·hō·w·’ā·ḥāz

bə·šō·mə·rō·wn,

בְּשֹׁ֣מְר֔וֹן

yā·rā·ḇə·‘ām

do he departed

mim·men·nāh.

And was kindled

against Israel

bə·yiś·rā·’êl;

בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

and he delivered

וַֽיִּתְּנֵ֞ם

into the hand

and into the hand

of Ben-hadad

yə·hō·w·’ā·ḥāz

and listened

וַיִּשְׁמַ֤ע

the oppression

And the LORD

lə·yiś·rā·’êl

לְיִשְׂרָאֵל֙

mō·wō·šî·a‘,

so that they went out

way·yê·ṣə·’ū,

וַיֵּ֣צְא֔וּ

of the Syrians

way·yê·šə·ḇū

וַיֵּשְׁב֧וּ

the children

in their tents

bə·’ā·ho·lê·hem

בְּאָהֳלֵיהֶ֖ם

שִׁלְשֽׁוֹם׃

Nevertheless

do they departed

from the sins

mê·ḥaṭ·ṭō·wṯ

of the house

yā·rā·ḇə·‘ām

[but] walked

hā·’ă·šê·rāh,

and there remained

bə·šō·mə·rō·wn.

בְּשֹׁמְרֽוֹן׃

did he leave

lî·hō·w·’ā·ḥāz

לִיהוֹאָחָ֜ז

of the people

פָּֽרָשִׁים֙

wa·‘ă·śā·rāh

wa·‘ă·śe·reṯ

had destroyed

for the king

of Syria them

and had made them

like the dust

at threshing

and his might

ū·ḡə·ḇū·rā·ṯōw;

וּגְבוּרָת֑וֹ

יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

וַיִּשְׁכַּ֤ב

יְהֽוֹאָחָז֙

way·yiq·bə·ru·hū

וַֽיִּקְבְּרֻ֖הוּ

בְּשֹׁמְר֑וֹן

וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ

you shall strike

and they buried him

way·yiq·bə·ru·hū;

וַֽיִּקְבְּרֻ֑הוּ

וַיַּשְׁלִ֥יכוּ

into the engrave

and was let down

when touched

bə·‘aṣ·mō·wṯ

בְּעַצְמ֣וֹת

wa·ḥă·zā·’êl

yə·hō·w·’ā·ḥāz.

יְהוֹאָחָֽז׃

And was gracious

and had compassion on them

way·ra·ḥă·mêm

וַֽיְרַחֲמֵם֙

and had respect

to the end that

of His covenant

wə·ya·‘ă·qōḇ;

not destroy them

הַשְׁחִיתָ֔ם

הִשְׁלִיכָ֥ם

he them from

his presence

וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ

in his place

תַּחְתָּֽיו׃

yə·hō·w·’ā·ḥāz,

from the hand

of Ben-hadad

he had taken
