Now it came to pass

in the month

haš·šə·ḇî·‘î,

הַשְּׁבִיעִ֗י

[that] Ishmael

יִשְׁמָעֵ֣אל

of Nethaniah

’ĕ·lî·šā·mā‘

אֱלִישָׁמָ֣ע

of the offspring

ham·mə·lū·ḵāh

הַ֠מְּלוּכָה

and the princes

and even ten

wa·‘ă·śā·rāh

gə·ḏal·yā·hū

גְּדַלְיָ֥הוּ

ham·miṣ·pā·ṯāh;

הַמִּצְפָּ֑תָה

and they did eat

way·yō·ḵə·lū

וַיֹּ֨אכְלוּ

bam·miṣ·pāh.

בַּמִּצְפָּֽה׃

יִשְׁמָעֵ֨אל

of Nethaniah

wa·‘ă·śe·reṯ

hā·’ă·nā·šîm

הָאֲנָשִׁ֣ים ׀

gə·ḏal·yā·hū

גְּדַלְיָ֨הוּ

with the sword

had made governor

over the land

hay·yə·hū·ḏîm,

הַיְּהוּדִ֗ים

[even] Gedaliah

gə·ḏal·yā·hū

גְּדַלְיָ֙הוּ֙

bam·miṣ·pāh,

בַּמִּצְפָּ֔ה

the Chaldeans

הַכַּשְׂדִּ֖ים

there the men

ham·mil·ḥā·māh,

הַמִּלְחָמָ֔ה

יִשְׁמָעֵֽאל׃

And it came to pass

after he had slain

gə·ḏal·yā·hū;

גְּדַלְיָ֑הוּ

and there came

way·yā·ḇō·’ū

from Shechem

and from Samaria

ū·miš·šō·mə·rō·wn

וּמִשֹּֽׁמְרוֹן֙

[even] eighty

mə·ḡul·lə·ḥê

having their beards

their clothes

and having cut themselves

ū·miṯ·gō·ḏə·ḏîm;

וּמִתְגֹּֽדְדִ֑ים

and with offerings

ū·lə·ḇō·w·nāh

in their hands

to the house

And went forth

יִשְׁמָעֵ֨אל

of Nethaniah

ham·miṣ·pāh,

הַמִּצְפָּ֔ה

as he went them

and it came to pass

gə·ḏal·yā·hū

גְּדַלְיָ֥הוּ

[so] when they came

way·yiš·ḥā·ṭêm

וַיִּשְׁחָטֵ֞ם

יִשְׁמָעֵ֤אל

of Nethaniah them

[and cast them] the middle

that the men

wə·hā·’ă·nā·šîm

וְהָאֲנָשִׁ֥ים

wa·‘ă·śā·rāh

and among those who said

way·yō·mə·rū

וַיֹּאמְר֤וּ

יִשְׁמָעֵאל֙

tə·mi·ṯê·nū,

in the field

and of barley

וּשְׂעֹרִ֖ים

and of honey

so he forbear

וַיֶּחְדַּ֕ל

their brothers

wə·hab·bō·wr,

יִשְׁמָעֵאל֙

the dead bodies

hā·’ă·nā·šîm,

הָאֲנָשִׁ֗ים

he had slain

gə·ḏal·yā·hū,

גְּדַלְיָ֔הוּ

the king [was]

יִשְׁמָעֵ֥אל

of Nethaniah

nə·ṯan·yā·hū

נְתַנְיָ֖הוּ

[them that were] it with slain

Then carried away captive

וַיִּ֣שְׁבְּ ׀

יִ֠שְׁמָעֵאל

of the people

bam·miṣ·pāh,

בַּמִּצְפָּ֗ה

of [even] the king

that remained

han·niš·’ā·rîm

הַנִּשְׁאָרִ֣ים

bam·miṣ·pāh,

בַּמִּצְפָּ֔ה

had committed

the Nebuzaradan

nə·ḇū·zar·’ă·ḏān

נְבֽוּזַרְאֲדָן֙

of the guard

gə·ḏal·yā·hū

גְּדַלְיָ֖הוּ

and carried them away captive

וַיִּשְׁבֵּם֙

יִשְׁמָעֵ֣אל

of Nethaniah

and departed

וַיִּשְׁמַע֙

But when Johanan

the captains

of the forces

ha·ḥă·yā·lîm

that Ishmael

יִשְׁמָעֵ֖אל

of Nethaniah

Then they took

hā·’ă·nā·šîm,

הָ֣אֲנָשִׁ֔ים

way·yê·lə·ḵū,

וַיֵּ֣לְכ֔וּ

lə·hil·lā·ḥêm

יִשְׁמָעֵ֣אל

of Nethaniah

way·yim·ṣə·’ū

וַיִּמְצְא֣וּ

by the great

bə·ḡiḇ·‘ō·wn.

בְּגִבְעֽוֹן׃

Now it came to pass

[that] the people

יִשְׁמָעֵ֔אל

the captains

of the forces

ha·ḥă·yā·lîm

then they were glad

way·yiś·mā·ḥū.

וַיִּשְׂמָֽחוּ׃

and cast about

way·yā·sōb·bū

וַיָּסֹ֙בּוּ֙

had carried away captive

יִשְׁמָעֵ֖אל

ham·miṣ·pāh;

הַמִּצְפָּ֑ה

and returned

way·yā·šu·ḇū

וַיָּשֻׁ֙בוּ֙

way·yê·lə·ḵū,

וַיֵּ֣לְכ֔וּ

wə·yiš·mā·‘êl

וְיִשְׁמָעֵ֣אל

of Nethaniah

בִּשְׁמֹנָ֣ה

yō·w·ḥā·nān;

the captains

of the forces

ha·ḥă·yā·lîm

of the people

he had recovered

יִשְׁמָעֵ֤אל

of Nethaniah

ham·miṣ·pāh,

הַמִּצְפָּ֔ה

[that] he had slain

[even] mighty

ham·mil·ḥā·māh,

הַמִּלְחָמָ֗ה

and the women

and the children

and the eunuchs

wə·sā·ri·sîm,

וְסָ֣רִסִ֔ים

he had brought again

mig·giḇ·‘ō·wn.

מִגִּבְעֽוֹן׃

And they departed

way·yê·lə·ḵū,

way·yê·šə·ḇū

וַיֵּֽשְׁבוּ֙

[ḵə·mō·w·hem

in order to proceed

to enter into

the Chaldeans

hak·kaś·dîm,

הַכַּשְׂדִּ֔ים

they were afraid

mip·pə·nê·hem;

מִפְּנֵיהֶ֑ם

יִשְׁמָעֵ֣אל

of Nethaniah

gə·ḏal·yā·hū

גְּדַלְיָ֙הוּ֙

made governor

over the land
