הַתְּרוּעָ֖ה

And they warred

way·yiṣ·bə·’ū

וַֽיִּצְבְּאוּ֙

the Midianites

and they slew

way·ya·har·ḡū

וַיַּֽהַרְג֖וּ

the rest of those who were slain

[namely] Evi

also the son

with the sword

And captives

וַיִּשְׁבּ֧וּ

the children

[all] took the women

their little ones

their livestock

בְּהֶמְתָּ֧ם

their flocks

took the spoil

their cities

wherein they dwelled

bə·mō·wō·šə·ḇō·ṯām,

בְּמ֣וֹשְׁבֹתָ֔ם

their goodly castles

And they took

ham·mal·qō·w·aḥ;

הַמַּלְק֑וֹחַ

[both] of men

and of beasts

ū·ḇab·bə·hê·māh.

וּבַבְּהֵמָֽה׃

And they brought

way·yā·ḇi·’ū

the congregation

the captives

ham·mal·qō·w·aḥ

הַמַּלְק֛וֹחַ

ham·ma·ḥă·neh;

הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֑ה

[near] Jericho

And went forth

way·yê·ṣə·’ū

וַיֵּ֨צְא֜וּ

wə·’el·‘ā·zār

וְאֶלְעָזָ֧ר

of the congregation

to meet them

outside them

lam·ma·ḥă·neh.

לַֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃

And was angry

way·yiq·ṣōp̄

the officers

[with] the captains

over thousands

hā·’ă·lā·p̄îm

and captains

over hundreds

ham·mê·’ō·wṯ,

from service

ham·mil·ḥā·māh.

הַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃

to them Have you saved

ha·ḥî·yî·ṯem

הַֽחִיִּיתֶ֖ם

all the women

the children

through the counsel

against the LORD

and there was

ham·mag·gê·p̄āh

הַמַּגֵּפָ֖ה

among the congregation

therefore kill

among the little

that has known

לְמִשְׁכַּ֥ב

בַּנָּשִׁ֔ים

lam·ma·ḥă·neh

לַֽמַּחֲנֶ֖ה

tiṯ·ḥaṭ·ṭə·’ū

תִּֽתְחַטְּא֞וּ

haš·šə·lî·šî

הַשְּׁלִישִׁי֙

and on the day

haš·šə·ḇî·‘î,

הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י

[both] and your captives

ū·šə·ḇî·ḵem.

וּשְׁבִיכֶֽם׃

[your] garments

[hair] things

tiṯ·ḥaṭ·ṭā·’ū.

תִּתְחַטָּֽאוּ׃

lam·mil·ḥā·māh;

לַמִּלְחָמָ֑ה

[is] the judgment

hat·tō·w·rāh,

hak·kā·sep̄;

han·nə·ḥō·šeṯ

הַנְּחֹ֙שֶׁת֙

hab·bar·zel,

hā·‘ō·p̄ā·reṯ.

the fire [it]

you shall make go

תַּעֲבִ֤ירוּ

and it shall be clean

nevertheless

of separation

it shall be purified

you shall make go

תַּעֲבִ֥ירוּ

And you shall wash

wə·ḵib·bas·tem

וְכִבַּסְתֶּ֧ם

your clothes

בִּגְדֵיכֶ֛ם

haš·šə·ḇî·‘î

הַשְּׁבִיעִ֖י

and you shall be clean

ū·ṭə·har·tem;

וּטְהַרְתֶּ֑ם

and afterward

you shall come

ham·ma·ḥă·neh.

הַֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃

of the booty

that was taken

[both] of man

and of beast

ū·ḇab·bə·hê·māh;

וּבַבְּהֵמָ֑ה

wə·’el·‘ā·zār

וְאֶלְעָזָ֣ר

and the chief

of the congregation

ham·mal·qō·w·aḥ,

הַמַּלְק֔וֹחַ

those who took

ham·mil·ḥā·māh,

הַמִּלְחָמָ֔ה

who went out

hay·yō·ṣə·’îm

הַיֹּצְאִ֖ים

the congregation

ham·mil·ḥā·māh

הַמִּלְחָמָה֙

From the sons

you shall take

ha·ḥă·miš·šîm,

הַחֲמִשִּׁ֗ים

ha·ḥă·mō·rîm

hab·bə·hê·māh;

wə·nā·ṯat·tāh

to the Levites

wə·’el·‘ā·zār

וְאֶלְעָזָ֖ר

ham·mal·qō·w·aḥ,

הַמַּלְק֔וֹחַ

[being] the rest

וְשִׁבְעִ֥ים

wa·ḥă·mê·šeṯ-

וַחֲמֵֽשֶׁת־

וְשִׁבְעִ֖ים

wa·ḥă·mō·rîm

וְשִׁשִּׁ֖ים

הַ֨נָּשִׁ֔ים

man by lying with

וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֖ים

ham·me·ḥĕ·ṣāh,

הַֽמֶּחֱצָ֔ה

[which was] the portion

of those who went out

hay·yō·ṣə·’îm

הַיֹּצְאִ֖ים

וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים

sixty fifteen

and the beefs

wə·hab·bā·qār,

וְהַ֨בָּקָ֔ר

[were] and thirty

וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֖ים

of whom the LORD

of whom the LORD

and [was] sixty

וְשִׁשִּֽׁים׃

of whom the LORD

heave offering

As for the sons

הַצֹּבְאִֽים׃

Now the half

[that pertained unto] the congregation

וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים

וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֖ים

wa·ḥă·mō·rîm

mim·ma·ḥă·ṣiṯ

Even of the children

ha·ḥă·miš·šîm,

הַחֲמִשִּׁ֔ים

hab·bə·hê·māh;

to the Levites

מִשְׁמֶ֙רֶת֙

and came near

way·yiq·rə·ḇū

וַֽיִּקְרְבוּ֙

the officers

hap·pə·qu·ḏîm

הַפְּקֻדִ֕ים

over thousands

the captains

of thousands

hā·’ă·lā·p̄îm

and captains

ham·mê·’ō·wṯ.

And they said

way·yō·mə·rū

וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙

your servants

ham·mil·ḥā·māh

הַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה

under our charge

bə·yā·ḏê·nū;

do there lacks

and We have therefore brought

for the LORD

and bracelets

to make atonement

nap̄·šō·ṯê·nū

נַפְשֹׁתֵ֖ינוּ

wə·’el·‘ā·zār

וְאֶלְעָזָ֧ר

[even] worked

of the offering

hat·tə·rū·māh,

הַתְּרוּמָ֗ה

they offered up

of thousands

wa·ḥă·miš·šîm

וַחֲמִשִּׁ֖ים

the captains

hā·’ă·lā·p̄îm,

הָֽאֲלָפִ֔ים

the captains

ham·mê·’ō·wṯ.

had taken spoil

wə·’el·‘ā·zār

וְאֶלְעָזָ֤ר

the captains

of thousands

hā·’ă·lā·p̄îm

and of hundreds

wə·ham·mê·’ō·wṯ;

וְהַמֵּא֑וֹת

way·yā·ḇi·’ū

[for] a memorial
