yoke together, couple, ἵππους Hdt. 4.189, X. Cyr. 2.2.26 (Pass.); esp. in marriage, τῷ μὲν φίλην σύζευξον ἄλοχον E. Alc. 166, cf. X. Oec. 7.30; ς. νέους καὶ νέας Arist. Pol. 1335a16 sq.; τὸν Ἄρη πρὸς τὴν Ἀφροδίτην ib. 1269b28: — Med., yoke for oneself, ἅρμα X. Cyr. 6.1.51: — Pass., to be yoked with, coupled with, paired, μετ' ἀλλήλων Arist. HA 585b9; πρὸς ἀλλήλας Plb. 8.4.2: metaph., τῷ συνέζευξαι πλάνῳ; v.l. for προς- in E. Alc. 482; τὸν ἐμὸν δαίμον', ᾧ συνεζύγην Id. Andr. 98; τίνι πότμῳ συνεζύγην; Id. Hel. 255; οἵᾳ ξυμφορᾷ συνεζύγης Id. Hipp. 1389 (conversely, συνέζευκται τὸ πάθος τινί Phld. Ir. p.57 W.); συζυγέντες ὁμιλοῦσι they live in close familiarity, X. Lac. 2.12.

συζεύγνυμι: 1 aorist συνέζευξα; from Euripides, and Xenophon down; properly, to fasten to one yoke, yoke together: ἵππους, Xenophon, Cyril 2, 2, 26; tropically, to join together, unite: τί or τινα, of the marriage tie, Matthew 19:6; Mark 10:9 (νόμος συζευγνυς ἄνδρα καί γυναῖκα, Xenophon, oec. 7, 30, and often so in Greek writings).
