gather together, assemble, esp. of soldiers, X. An. 7.2.8, etc.; τὸ ναυτικόν Lys. 2.34; ἀγέλην Babr. 124.8; ς. ἐπὶ τὴν πόλιν.. Ἕλληνάς τε καὶ βαρβάρους Pl. Mx. 243b: Pass., X. An. 6.5.30, Acts 12:12.

2. of things, gather into one mass, τὸ κάταγμα εἰς ἕν Ar. Lys. 585 (anap.); τὸ σῶμα ς. bring the body together, Pl. Ti. 44d: Pass., ἐὰν εἰς μίαν.. πόλιν.. συναθροισθῇ τὰ.. Χρήματα Id. συναθροίζω: 1 aorist participle συναθροίσας; perfect passive participle συνηθροισμενος; from (Euripides, Aristophanes, others), Isocrates down; the Sept. chiefly for קָבַץ and קִבֵּץ; to gather together with others; to assemble: τινας, Acts 19:25; passive, to be gathered together i. e. come together, Luke 24:33 R G; Acts 12:12.
