[in LXX chiefly for H4886 of consecration to a sacred office: priest, Exodus 28:41; prophet, 1 Kings 19:16; king, 1 Samuel 10:1; of things, Exodus 40:9, Leviticus 8:10, al.].

In NT, metaph., of God's anointing,

(a) Christ: Acts 4:27; c. inf., Luke 4:18 (LXX); c. dupl. acc (v. B1., § 34, 4), Hebrews 1:9 (LXX); πνεύματι ἁγίῳ , Acts 10:38;
