בָּכָה fut. יִבְכֶּה convers. וַיֵּבְךְּ pr. i.q. בָּכָא to distil, to flow by drops (the primary syllable בך imitates the sound of falling drops, comp. the roots ending with ךְ); see בְּכִי, specially, to weep, a root common to all the cognate languages and dialects, Exodus 2:6; Genesis 43:30; 2 Samuel 19:2 often used of the people lamenting in public calamities, Numbers 11:10, 25:6 used of the mourning of penitents, Ezra 10:1. Followed by an acc. to weep for, bewail any one, especially the dead.
