מַסְגֵּר m. (from the root סָגַר) prop. particip. Hiph., shutting up, hence
(1) he who shuts up, a locksmith, smith (artisan), 2 Kings 24:14, 16 2 Kings 24:16; Jeremiah 24:1, 29:2.
(2) that which shuts up, a prison Psa. 142:8 Isaiah 24:22.
