Vocabulary of the Greek NT

With the use of ἐκβολὴν ποιεῖσθαι = ";jettison"; in Acts 27:18, cf. the directions on the back of a mummy-ticket, Preisigke 2052, ἐκβολὴν ποιῆσαι ἰς ὅρμον κώμης Ἔμμαυ : so ib. 1207. In P Hib I. 110 recto.9 (c. B.C. 270) the word is found in a very broken context, and in BGU IV. 1116.13 (B.C. 13) we have ̣π ̣ι ̣βολῆς καὶ ἐγβολῆς. See also CP Herm I. 127ii. 11 (p 79), and for medical usage cf. Hobart, p. 143.
