1037) nb (בנ BN) AC: Build CO: Tent panel AB: Intelligence: The pictograph b is a picture of the tent. The n is a picture of a sprouting seed and represents continuity as the seed continues the next generation. The combined meaning of these letters mean “the continuing of the house”. The tent was constructed of woven goat hair. Over time the sun bleaches and weakens the goat hair necessitating their continual replacement. Each year the women make a new panel, approximately3feet wide and the length of the tent. The old panel is removed (being recycled into a wall or floor) and the new strip is added to the tent. Since the tent is only replaced one small piece at a time the tent essentially lasts forever. (eng: beam - a component of construction with an exchange for the m and n; between - with the t added)

A) nb (בנ BN) AC: ? CO: Tent Panel AB: ?: There are many similarities between building a tent out of goat hair panels and the building of a house out of sons (The idea of building a house with sons can be seen in ge303) . Just as the tent is continually being renewed with new panels, the family is continually being renewed with new sons.

(Arab. بنا Aram. ܒܢܐܳ, בְּנָא id. Comp. אֶבֶן and אָמַן.) The material of which anything is built is commonly put in accus. 1 Kings 18:32, וַיִּבְנֶה אֶת־הָאֲבָנִים מִזְבֵּחֲ “and he built the stones into an altar,” i.e. erected an altar out of them. (Comp. Lehrgb. p. 813.) Exodus 20:25; Deuteronomy 27:6; 1 Kings 15:22 more rarely with the prefix בְּ ibid. fin. Constr. also

(a) with an acc. of place on which one builds (Germ. etwas bebauen). 1 Kings 6:15, 16:24.

(b) with an acc. of person, and it signifies to build a house for any one, i.e. to give him a stable abode; and figuratively, to cause him to prosper; (as to another sense of the phrase, see No. 3). Jeremiah 24:6, “I will bring them back into this land, וּבְנִיתִים וְלֹא אֶהֱרֹס וּנְטַעְתּים וְלֹא אֶתּוֹשׁ and I will build them up and not pull them down, I will plant and will not root up,” i.e. “I will give them a fixed abode and cause them to prosper.” Jeremiah 31:4, 33:7 42:10 Psalms 28:5. (Arab. بنا to benefit any one.)

(3) בָּנָה בַיִת לְ to build a house for any one is equivalent to, to give him offspring and descendants (see בַּיִת No. 8, and Niphal No. 3). House is by a common Eastern metaphor applied to family and children, and he who begets children is said to build a house. Hence בֵּן a son, so called from the idea of building, i.e. begetting. The same metaphor is carried out in Plaut. Mostell. i. 2, 37.
