Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

חֲנִית pl. חֲנִיתִים 2 Chronicles 23:9, חֲנִיתוֹת Isaiah 2:4; Micah 4:3, fem. a spear, so called from its flexibility (see חָנָה No. 1 ), 1 Samuel 18:11, 19:10 20:33. [The pl. f. in form appears to denote spear heads, while that ending in ־ִים is simply the pl. of the word in its common sense.]
