they gave him wine mixed with gall to drink. But when he tasted it, he refused to drink it.

“He saved others, but he cannot save himself! He is the King of Israel! Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him.

But some of the scribes were sitting there, questioning in their hearts:

“Why does he speak like this? He’s blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?”

Now John’s disciples and the Pharisees were fasting. People came and asked him, “Why do John’s disciples and the Pharisees’ disciples fast, but your disciples do not fast?”
