Jacob said to Joseph, "I never expected to see you again, and now God has even let me see your children."

Then Jacob said to Joseph, "As you see, I am about to die, but God will be with you and will take you back to the land of your ancestors.

He lived to see Ephraim's children and grandchildren. He also lived to receive the children of Machir son of Manasseh into the family.

The baby's sister stood some distance away to see what would happen to him.

"This is strange," he thought. "Why isn't the bush burning up? I will go closer and see."

Then Moses went back to Jethro, his father-in-law, and said to him, "Please let me go back to my relatives in Egypt to see if they are still alive." Jethro agreed and told him good-bye.

Then the Lord said to Moses, "Now you are going to see what I will do to the king. I will force him to let my people go. In fact, I will force him to drive them out of his land."

"It would not be right to do that," Moses answered, "because the Egyptians would be offended by our sacrificing the animals that we offer to the Lord our God. If we use these animals and offend the Egyptians by sacrificing them where they can see us, they will stone us to death.

Then the Lord said to Moses, "Go and see the king. I have made him and his officials stubborn, in order that I may perform these miracles among them
