While he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes turned dazzling white.

Even while the boyhe">[fn] was coming, the demon knocked him to the ground and threw him into convulsions. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the boy, and gave him back to his father.

So all the people continued to be amazed at the greatness of God. Indeed, everyone was astonished at all the things Jesushe">[fn] was doing. So he said to his disciples,

When the days grew closer for Jesusfor him">[fn] to be taken up to heaven,to heaven">[fn] he was determined to continue his journey to Jerusalem.Mark 16:19; Acts 1:2;">[xr]

When his disciples James and John saw this, they asked, "Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them, as Elijah did?as Elijah did">[fn]2 Kings 1:10,12;">[xr]

Jesus told him, "Foxes have holes and birdsbirds in the sky">[fn] have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to rest."no place to lay his head">[fn]

Jesus told him, "No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God."

He was telling them, "The harvest is vast, but the workers are few. So ask the Lord of the harvest to send workers out into his harvest.Matthew 9:37-38; John 4:35; 2 Thessalonians 3:1;">[xr]

Stay with the same family, eating and drinking whatever they provide, for the worker deserves his pay. Don't move from house to house.Matthew 10:10-11; 1 Corinthians 9:4; 10:27; 1 Timothy 5:18;">[xr]

He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them. Then he put him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

Once Jesushe">[fn] was praying in a certain place. After he had finished, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples."

I tell you, even though he doesn't want to get up and give him anything because he is his friend, he will get up and give him whatever he needs because of his persistence.Luke 18:1;">[xr]

"What father among you, if his son asks for bread, would give him a stone, or if he asks for a fish,What father among you, if his son asks for a fish">[fn] would give him a snake instead of the fish?Matthew 7:9;">[xr]

Now if Satan is divided against himself, how can his kingdom last? For you say that I drive out demons by Beelzebul.

"When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own mansion, his property is safe.Matthew 12:29; Mark 3:27;">[xr]

But when a stronger man than he attacks him and defeats him, he'll take away his armor in which he trusted and divide his plunder.Isaiah 53:12; Colossians 2:15;">[xr]

After Jesushe">[fn] had said this, a Pharisee invited him to have a meal with him. So Jesushe">[fn] went and took his place at the table.

Meanwhile, the peoplecrowd">[fn] had gathered by the thousands and were trampling on one another. JesusHe">[fn] began to speak first to his disciples. "Watch out for the yeast - that is, the hypocrisy - of the Pharisees!Matthew 16:6,12; Mark 8:15;">[xr]

Then Jesushe">[fn] said to his disciples, "That's why I'm telling you to stop worrying about your life - what you will eat - or about your body - what you will wear.Matthew 6:25;">[xr]

Consider how the lilies grow. They don't work or spin yarn, but I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was clothed like one of them.
