For I have come to turn 'A man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.

A man's enemies will be the members of his own household.'

Anyone who loves his father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me;

and anyone who does not take up his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me.

Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.

And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is My disciple, truly I tell you, he will never lose his reward."

After Jesus had finished instructing His twelve disciples, He went on from there to teach and preach in the nearby towns.

Meanwhile, John heard in prison about the works of Christ, and he sent two of his disciples

Then Jesus began to denounce the cities in which most of His miracles had been performed, because they did not repent.

At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick the heads of grain and eat them.

Jesus replied, "Have you not read what David did when he and his companions were hungry?

He entered the house of God, and he and his companions ate the consecrated bread, which was not lawful for them to eat, but only for the priests.

He will not quarrel or cry out; no one will hear His voice in the streets.

In His name the nations will put their hope."

If Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then can his kingdom stand?

How can anyone enter a strong man's house and steal his possessions, unless he first ties up the strong man? Then he can plunder his house.

The good man brings good things out of his good store of treasure, and the evil man brings evil things out of his evil store of treasure.

While Jesus was still speaking to the crowds, His mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to Him.

Pointing to His disciples, He said, "Here are My mother and My brothers.

And He told them many things in parables, saying, "A farmer went out to sow his seed.
