John wore a garment of camel's hair, with a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey.

But when John saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his place of baptism, he said to them, "You brood of vipers, who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?

His winnowing fork is in His hand to clear His threshing floor and to gather His wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire."

"If You are the Son of God," he said, "throw Yourself down. For it is written: 'He will command His angels concerning You, and they will lift You up in their hands, so that You will not strike Your foot against a stone.'"

As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.

Going on from there, He saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, mending their nets. Jesus called them,

When Jesus saw the crowds, He went up on the mountain and sat down. His disciples came to Him,

But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, 'Raca,' will be subject to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be subject to the fire of hell.

But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

It has also been said, 'Whoever divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.'

But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, brings adultery upon her. And he who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

or by the earth, for it is His footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.

that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his glory was adorned like one of these.

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.

Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?

Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.

But everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.

When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were astonished at His teaching,
