Leave your children behind, who have lost their parents, and I will keep them alive. And let your women whose husbands have died trust in Me."

Those who hate her have power over her, and all goes well for them. For the Lord has made her suffer for her many sins. Her children have been taken away in front of those who hate her.

This is why I cry. Tears flow from my eyes, because a comforter is far from me who would give strength to my soul. My children are destroyed, because those who hate me have won."

My eyes become weak from crying. My spirit is very troubled. My heart is poured out in sorrow, because my people have been destroyed, and because children and babies fall down weak in the city streets.

Get up and cry out in the night, at the beginning of the night hours. Pour out your heart like water before the Lord. Lift up your hands to Him for the lives of your children who are weak with hunger on every street."

See, O Lord, and look! To whom have You done this? Should women eat their children, the little ones they have cared for? Should religious leaders and men of God be killed in the Lord's holy place?

He does not want to cause trouble or sorrow for the children of men.

The baby's tongue sticks to the roof of its mouth because of thirst. The children beg for bread, but no one gives it to them.

Women who had shown loving-kindness have boiled their own children for food, because my people are destroyed.

I am sending you to these strong-willed children who show no respect. And you must say to them, ‘This is what the Lord God says.'

I will send hunger and wild animals against you, and they will take away your children. Disease and death will pass through you, and I will bring the sword against you. I, the Lord, have spoken.'"

Kill and destroy old men, young men, young women, little children, and women. But do not touch anyone who has the mark. Begin at My holy house." So they started with the leaders who were in front of the Lord's house.

Yet there will be some people and their children left alive in it who will be brought out. When they come to you, see how sinful they are. Then you will know that all the trouble I brought upon Jerusalem was right.

You killed My children and gave them as burnt gifts to false gods.

The Lord God says, "Your shame was poured out and your clothing was taken off because of your sex sins with your lovers and with all your hated false gods. And you killed your children and gave them to false gods. Because of these things,

You are the daughter of your mother, who hated her husband and her children. You are also a sister of your sisters who hated their husbands and children. Your mother was a Hittite and your father was an Amorite.

"What do you mean by using this saying about the land of Israel: ‘The fathers eat the sour grapes, but the children get the sour taste'?

Tell them, ‘The Lord God says, "On the day I chose Israel, I raised My hand and made a promise to the children of the family of Jacob and made Myself known to them in the land of Egypt. I made a promise to them, saying, ‘I am the Lord your God.'

"And I said to their children in the desert, ‘Do not keep the laws of your fathers, or follow their ways, or make yourselves sinful with their false gods.

But the children turned against Me. They did not keep My Laws or obey My Words which bring life to anyone who obeys them. They did not keep My Days of Rest holy. So I said I would be angry with them. I would send My anger against them in the desert.
