Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus, glorifying God. And all the people who saw this gave praise to God.

So He said, "A man of noble birth went to a distant country to lay claim to his kingship and then return.

Beforehand, he called ten of his servants and gave them ten minas. 'Conduct business with this until I return,' he said.

But his subjects hated him and sent a delegation after him to say, 'We do not want this man to rule over us.'

When he returned from procuring his kingship, he summoned the servants to whom he had given the money, to find out what each one had earned.

His master replied, 'Well done, good servant! Because you have been faithful in a very small matter, you shall have authority over ten cities.'

His master replied, 'You wicked servant, I will judge you by your own words. So you knew that I am a harsh man, withdrawing what I did not deposit and reaping what I did not sow?

As He approached Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives, He sent out two of His disciples,

Yet they could not find a way to do so, because all the people hung on His words.

At harvest time, he sent a servant to the tenants to collect his share of the fruit of the vineyard. But the tenants beat the servant and sent him away empty-handed.

So they watched Him closely and sent spies who pretended to be sincere. They were hoping to catch Him in His words in order to hand Him over to the rule and authority of the governor.

And they were unable to trap Him in His words before the people; and amazed at His answer, they fell silent.

"Teacher," they said, "Moses wrote for us that if a man's brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, the man is to marry his brother's widow and raise up offspring for him.

In the hearing of all the people, Jesus said to His disciples,

When the hour had come, Jesus reclined at the table with His apostles.

"Now, however," He told them, "the one with a purse should take it, and likewise a bag; and the one without a sword should sell his cloak and buy one.

And in His anguish, He prayed more earnestly, and His sweat became like drops of blood falling to the ground.

And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his right ear.

"Why do we need any more testimony?" they declared. "We have heard it for ourselves from His own lips."

But they kept insisting, "He stirs up the people all over Judea with His teaching. He began in Galilee and has come all the way here."
