But his citizens hated him, and sent an ambassador after him, saying, We will not have this man reign over us.

And they watched him, and sent forth spies, who feigned themselves to be righteous, that they might take hold of his speech, so as to deliver him up to the rule and to the authority of the governor.

And they were not able to take hold of what he said before the people: and they marveled at his answer, and held their peace.

and they asked him, saying, Teacher, Moses wrote to us, that if a man's brother dies, having a wife, and he is childless, his brother should take the wife, and raise up seed to his brother.

David therefore calls him Lord, and how is he his son?

And in the hearing of all the people he said to his disciples,

And he said to them, But now, he that has a purse, let him take it, and likewise a wallet; and he that has none, let him sell his cloak, and buy a sword.

And he came out, and went, as his custom was, to the mount of Olives; and the disciples also followed him.

And when he rose up from his prayer, he came to the disciples, and found them sleeping for sorrow,

And a certain one of them smote the slave of the high priest, and struck off his right ear.
