By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph; and worshiped, [leaning] on the top of his staff.

By faith Joseph, when his end was near, made mention of the departure of the sons of Israel; and gave commandment concerning his bones.

By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months by his fathers, because they saw he was a goodly child; and they were not afraid of the king's commandment.

It is for chastening that you endure; God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom [his] father does not chasten?

For they indeed for a few days chastened [us] as seemed good to them; but he for [our] profit, that [we] may be partakers of his holiness.

lest [there be] any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one mess of meat sold his own birthright.

For you know that even when he afterward desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected; for he found no place for a change of mind [in his father,] though he sought it diligently with tears.

Therefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people through his own blood, suffered outside the gate.

Let us therefore go forth to him outside the camp, bearing his reproach.

Through him then let us offer up a sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of lips which make confession to his name.

make you perfect in every good thing to do his will, working in us that which is well-pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom [be] the glory forever and ever. Amen.

a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

But let the brother of low degree glory in his high estate:

For the sun rises with the scorching wind, and withers the grass: and the flower thereof falls, and the grace of the fashion of it perishes: so also shall the rich man fade away in his goings.

but each man is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own desire, and enticed.

Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures.

For if any one is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his natural face in a mirror:

But he that looks into the perfect law, the [law] of liberty, and [so] continues, not being a hearer that forgets but a doer that works, this man shall be blessed in his doing.

If any man thinks himself to be religious, while he doesn't bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this man's religion is vain.

Wasn't Abraham our father justified by works, in that he offered up Isaac his son on the altar?
