When he arrived in Galilee, the Galileans welcomed him because they had seen all that he had done in Jerusalem during the festival. For they, too, had gone to the festival.Deuteronomy 16:16; John 2:23; 3:2;">[xr]

When this man heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went to him and asked him repeatedly to come down and heal his son, for he was about to die.

and under these a large number of sick people were lying - blind, lame, or paralyzed - waiting for the movement of the water.waiting for the movement of the water">[fn]

For at certain times an angel of the Lord would go down into the pool and stir up the water. And the one who stepped in first after the stirring of the water was healed of whatever disease he had.[fn]

One particular man was there who had been ill for thirty-eight years.

So the Jews said to the man who had been healed, "It is the Sabbath, and it is not lawful for you to carry your mat."Exodus 20:10; Nehemiah 13:19; Jeremiah 17:21; Matthew 12:2; Mark 2:24; 3:4; Luke 6:2; 13:14;">[xr]

But the one who had been healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had slipped away from the crowd in that place.

For the Father loves the Son and shows him everything he is doing. And he will show him even greater works than these, so that you may be amazed.Matthew 3:17; John 3:35; 2 Peter 1:17;">[xr]

For just as the Father has life in himself, so also he has granted the Son to have life in himself.

That man was a lamp that burns and brightly shines, and for a while you were willing to rejoice in his light.Matthew 13:20; 21:26; Mark 6:20; 2 Peter 1:19;">[xr]

But I have a greater testimony than John's, for the works that the Father has given me to complete, the very works that I am doing, testify on my behalf that the Father has sent me.John 3:2; 10:25; 15:24; 1 John 5:9;">[xr]

How can you believe when you accept each other's praise and do not look for the praise that comes from the only God?the only One">[fn]John 12:43; Romans 2:29;">[xr]

When Jesus looked up and saw that a large crowd was coming toward him, he said to Philip, "Where can we buy bread for these people to eat?"Matthew 14:14; Mark 6:35; Luke 9:12;">[xr]

Philip answered him, "Two hundred denarii[fn] worth of bread is not enough for each of them to get a little."Numbers 11:21-22;">[xr]
