And he looked, and noticed a well in the field, and saw three flocks of sheep lying there by it. For out of that well they watered the flocks. And the stone on the well's mouth was great.

And there were all the flocks gathered. And they rolled the stone from the well's mouth, and watered the sheep, and put the stone again on the well's mouth in its place.

And Jacob said to them, My brothers, where are you from? And they said, We are of Haran.

And he said to them, Do you know Laban the son of Nahor? And they said, We know him.

And he said to them, Is it well with him? And they said, It is well. And, look, Rachel his daughter comes with the sheep.

And they said, We can't, until all the flocks be gathered together, and they roll the stone from the well's mouth. Then we water the sheep.

And Jacob served seven years for Rachel. And they were like a few days in his eyes, for the love he had to her.

And he set the rods which he had peeled across from the flocks in the gutters in the watering-troughs where the flocks came to drink; and they conceived when they came to drink.

And it came to pass, whenever the stronger of the flock conceived, that Jacob laid the rods before the eyes of the flock in the gutters, that they might conceive among the rods;

Whereas you have felt all about my stuff, what have you found of all your household stuff? Set it here before my brothers and your brothers, that they may judge between us two.

And Laban answered and said to Jacob, The daughters are my daughters, and the sons are my sons, and the flocks are my flocks, and all that you see is mine: and what can I do this day to these my daughters, or to their sons whom they have borne?

And Jacob said to his brothers, Gather stones; and they took stones, and made a heap: and they ate there by the heap.

And Jacob offered a sacrifice in the mountain, and called his brothers to eat bread: and they ate bread, and tarried all night in the mountain.

then you shall say [They are] your slave Jacob's; it is a present sent to my lord Esau: and, look, he also is behind us.

And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept.

Then the female slaves came near, they and their children, and they bowed themselves.

And Leah also and her children came near, and bowed themselves: and afterward came Joseph near and Rachel, and they bowed themselves.

And he said to him, My lord knows that the children are tender, and that the flocks and herds with me have their young: and if they overdrive them one day, all the flocks will die.

Now Jacob heard that he had defiled Dinah his daughter; and his sons were with his cattle in the field: and Jacob held his peace until they came.

And the sons of Jacob came in from the field when they heard it: and the men were grieved, and they were very angry, because he had wrought folly in Israel in lying with Jacob's daughter; which thing ought not to be done.
