"For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard.

After agreeing with the workers for one denarius[fn] a day, he sent them into his vineyard.

"When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his manager, 'Call the workers and give them their wages, beginning with the last and ending withand up to">[fn] the first.'

That's the way it is with the Son of Man. Finally, he sent his son to them, thinking, 'They will respect my son.'

When the high priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they knew that he was talking about them.

"The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a wedding banquet for his son.

He sent his servants to call those who had been invited to the wedding, but they refused to come.

But they paid no attention to this and went away, one to his farm, another to his business.
