If you shall afflict my daughters, and if you shall take wives besides my daughters, no man is with us; see, God is witness between me and you.

May the God of Abraham and the God of Nahor judge between us. And Jacob swore by the Fear of his father Isaac.

And Jacob went on his way, and the angels of God met him.

And Jacob said, O God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, O Yahweh, who said to me, Return to your country, and to your kindred, and I will do you good:

And he said, Your name will not be Jacob anymore, but Israel: for you have striven with God and with men, and have prevailed.

And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for, [he said], I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.

And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said, Who are these with you? And he said, The children whom God has graciously given your slave.

And Jacob said, No, I pray you, if now I have found favor in your sight, then receive my present at my hand; since I have seen your face, as one sees the face of God, and you were pleased with me.

Take, I pray you, my gift that is brought to you; because God has dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough. And he urged him, and he took it.

And God said to Jacob, Arise, go up to Beth-el, and dwell there: and make there an altar to God, who appeared to you when you fled from the face of Esau your brother.

and let us arise, and go up to Beth-el; and I will make there an altar to God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went.

And they journeyed: and a terror of God was on the cities that were round about them, and they did not pursue after the sons of Jacob.

And he built there an altar, and called the place El-beth-el; because there God was revealed to him, when he fled from the face of his brother.

And God appeared to Jacob again, when he came from Paddan-aram, and blessed him.

And God said to him, Your name is Jacob: your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel shall be your name: and he named him Israel.

And God said to him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of you, and kings shall come out of your loins;

And God went up from him in the place where he spoke with him.

And Jacob called the name of the place where God spoke with him, Beth-el.

he is not greater in this house than I; neither has he kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?

And they said to him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is none that can interpret it. And Joseph said to them, Don't interpretations belong to God? tell it me, I pray you.
