Verse 1

Luke 6:1-5

(Deuteronomy 23:25). Jewish leaders argued that "rubbing them in the hands" constitued threshing, which was work.

Verse 5

Luke 6:5

The ultimate conclusion was that Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath, that is, He has authority even over matters of the Law.

Verse 9

He showed that refusing to do good on the Sabbath was tantamount to doing evil. If suffering is not alleviated, then one is doing evil to the sufferer.
