signifies "a reform, amendment, correction," lit., "a making straight" (dia, "through," orthoo, "to make straight"). In Acts 24:2 , lit., "reformations come about (or take place, lit., 'become')," the RV has "evils are corrected," AV, "worthy deeds are done;" there is no word for "worthy" or for "deeds" in the original. A — 3: παιδευτής

(Strong's #3810 — Noun Masculine — paideutes — pahee-dyoo-tace' )

B — 1: ἀνάπτω

(Strong's #381 — Verb — paideuo — an-ap'-to )

"to train up a child" (pais), is rendered "correcting" in 2 Timothy 2:25 , RV, AV, "instructing." See CHASTEN.
