"hard," is translated "rough" in James 3:4 , RV, of winds (AV, "fierce"). See AUSTERE , FIERCE , Note (1).

2: τραχύς

(Strong's #5138 — Adjective — trachus — trakh-oos' )

"rough, uneven," is used of paths, Luke 3:5; of rocky places, Acts 27:29 . See ROCKY.
