used transitively, denotes "to outrage, treat insolently;" "to entreat shamefully" in Matthew 22:6 , RV (AV, "spitefully"); so in Luke 18:32 , RV; in Acts 14:5 (AV, "use despitefully"); in 1 Thessalonians 2:2 , AV and RV; in Luke 11:45 , "reproachest."
