Adrevald
Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature
or a Benedictine monk, was born about 818, in a village near the Monastery of Fleury, and died in 878. He acquired considerable reputation by his writings, especially Opusculum de Corpore et Sanguine Domini, against the famous John Scotus, published in vol. xii of the Spicilegium of D'Achery: — Vita S. Agilulfi (Mabillon), i.e. a life of Ayoul, friar of Fleury and priest of Lerins, who died in 677 (in vol. i of Acta Ordinis S.. Benedicti: — also Historia Miraculorum S. Benedicti. The author was the first to give to the governors of the provinces of- the frontiers the title of margrave or marquis. He has often been confounded with Adelbert, another monk of Fleury who died in 853, and wrote an account of the translation of Benedict, in the Acta Ordinis S. Benedicti. See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog.
