the names of two Messiahs expected by the modern Jews. To evade the express predictions of the Old-Test, prophets concerning the mean condition of the Messiah, they confidently speak of looking forward to the appearance of two Messiahs; the one Ben-Ephraim, whom they grant to be a person of mean and afflicted condition in this world; and the other Ben- David, who shall be a powerful and victorious prince.
