Bourn (Or Bourne), Immanuel

a Puritanical divine of the English Church, was born Dec. 27, 1590, and was educated at Christ Church, Oxford. When the rebellion broke out he sided with the Presbyterian faction, and was removed from his rectory of Ashover, in Derbyshire, to St. Sepulchre's, in London. On, the restoration he conformed, and died rector of Ailston, in Leicestershire, Dec. 27, 1672. Among his works are, A Defence of Scripture as, the Chief Judge of Controversy (1656): Vindication of the Honor due to Magistrates, Ministers, etc., against the Quakers (1659): A Defence of Tythes, Infant Baptism, Human Learning, etc.: A Golden Chain of Directions to Preserve Love between the Husband and Wife (1669).
