an English Baptist minister, was born at Beckington, near Frome, Somerset Co., Dec., 31, 1802. Losing his father at the age of fourteen, he became a thoughtless youth. At length, through domestic trials, his heart was touched by the Spirit of God, and on Aug. 30, 1829, he joined the Church at Road, Somersetshire. In 1834 he was encouraged to engage in ministerial labor, and performed much itinerant work. In 1846 he was providentially led to Grettleton, in Wiltshire, and was ordained pastor of the Church in that place, July 27, 1847. Here he remained until his death, Sept. 13, 1857. See (Lond.)
