is the name applied to a Lama, (See LAMAISM), who professes to work miracles, particularly to cut himself open, take out his entrails, place them before him, and then resume his former condition as if nothing had happened. This spectacle, so revolting to the spectators, is very common in the Lamaseries of Tartary. The regular Lamas disclaim all connection with spectacles of this sort, and they are only enacted by lay Lamas of indifferent character and of little esteem among their brethren.
