a French prelate and theologian, was born at Bourg, in Bresse, January 22. 1702. He was grand-vicar of the diocese of Nantes. Having been called to that bishopric, he evinced lively zeal and earnest morality, introducing wise reforms in his diocese which he strengthened by the simplicity of his manners and the constant practice of charity. He was made several times deputy to the assembly of the clergy, and died April 16, 1759, leaving Instructions sur le Rituel (Lyons, 1778, 3 volumes, 4to; new ed. by cardinal Gousset, with notes and dissertations, Besancon, 1828, 6 volumes, 8vo), See Hoefer, Nouv.
