a Dutch theologian, was born at Schiedam in 1770. In 1803 he was professor of theology at Harderwick; in 1811, preacher at Amsterdam; in 1815, doctor and: professor of theology at Levden, where he died in 1843. He is the author of Enicyclopcedice Theologicce Epiitome (Leyden, 1832, 1835):Diss. Exeg.-theol. de Spiritu Sancto (Utrecht, 1791; Dutch transl. ibid. 1795):-Scholce Theologicce Praesertin Apologeticce (ibid. 1841). See Winer. Handbuch dei theol.
