(a coming together, or assembly) is the same of an ecclesiastical association or assembly in he Reformed (Dutch) Church in America. It was organized in 1747, being designed to supply the want of a classis or synod in this country, and was composed of ministers and elders who were in favor of the independence of the Church. Its powers were too limited to enable it to accomplish all that was hoped from its organization. For a full account, (See REFORMED CHURCH IN AMERICA).
