a Presbyterian minister, was born at Kaskaskia, Illinois, August 4, 1821. He graduated from Yale College in 1840, spent one year studying law, graduated from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1844, served as pastor or stated supply at various places in Indiana, Illinois, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and California, spent several years in foreign travel, became pastor at San Diego, California, in 1879, and died there, February 26, 1885.
