(Γεφροῦς, prob. a Graecized form of the Heb. כָּפָר, a village; (See CAPHAR) ), a town mentioned by Polybius (5:70, 12) as captured by Antiochus along with Pella and Camus (Camon), and therefore situated in the same vicinity east of the Jordan (Reland, Palest. page 804); perhaps the present Kefr-Awan, a short distance N.E. of Kefi-Abil (Robinson, Later Researches, page 318).
