a Presbyterian minister, was born at Orange, N.J., in December 1795. He graduated from Princeton College in 1820, and studied two years in the theological seminary there; was ordained in 1831; became stated supply at Fair Forest, S.C., in 1832, at Salem, Virginia, in 1835, and in 1838 became pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Memphis, Tenn., where he labored for six years with great acceptability. He afterwards preached in Newcastle, Kentucky (1844-47); Florence, Alabama (1848-50); Aberdeen, Mississippi (1851-54); Burlington, Tennessee (1855-58), and Fulton, Missouri, where he died, October 30, 1863.
