was born about the middle of the 11th century. He was archdeacon of Compostelle until the bishopric of Porto was established in 1114, when Hugo was elected to this see. He was a member of several Church councils in 1122-25. He died about 1125. Of his writings, the History of the Church of Compostelle, which has never been printed, is of especial value for the history of his diocese. — Histoire Litt. de la France, 11, 115; Hoefer, Nouv.
